Objectives:

• Understand the evidence showing thyroid disease is important in pregnancy
• Review the effects of pregnancy on thyroid physiology and thyroid disease
• Focus on the diagnosis and management of hypothyroidism in pregnancy
• Review studies investigating the relationship between maternal, fetal, and combined hypothyroidism on fetal CNS development
